The Do's and Don'ts of Anti-Wrinkle Treatment

Aging is a natural process that each and every individual must go through. As you tack on additional years to your life, your body will go through certain physical changes. Some of these changes are welcomed, while others aren't. The good news, though, is that you can help reduce the negative effects of aging by using certain techniques. Keep reading as we take a closer look into the do's and don't of anti-wrinkle treatments.

When it comes to anti-aging, it's important to take preventive measures to help protect your skin. Far too many people wait until their skin is already damaged before seeking advice on how to protect it. So, just what types of measures are useful for preventing wrinkled skin? For starters, you should eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and omega fats. At first glance, you might be thrown off by the addition of fats in your diet; however, these omega 3 & 6 acids are known as the “good” fats, and they work to lower your bad cholesterol and raise your good cholesterol levels.

The human body's arch-nemesis is the sun. The constant battering of UV rays will result in premature wrinkling, discoloration, and it can increase your chances of developing certain types of skin cancer. Although this information is widely known, very few people take sun damage seriously; they are stuck in the mindset that a tan body is more attractive and pleasing to the eye. If you want to achieve a dark tan, then use a sunless tanning lotion instead. It's a quick and easy way to change the color of your skin into a natural tan color without the harmful effects of the sun's UV rays.

If you are planning on staying outside for longer than 20 minutes, coat any exposed skin with a high-SPF sunscreen lotion. This will offer a valuable layer of protection for your skin that prevents some (not all) of the sun's UV rays from penetrating through. The 2-3 extra minutes it takes to put sunscreen lotion on will result in more youthful skin with less wrinkles, and that's something we could all take advantage of.

Contrary to what some people may believe, it's never too late to regain control of your skin. If you are suffering from a large concentration of visible wrinkles, you should consider microdermabrasion treatments. If you don't know what these are, let me explain – basically, microdermabrasion is an exfoliating procedure that's done by blowing a very fine abrasive crystal substance over the skin. When the wand-like device is placed directly on the skin, it creates a suction effect that pulls up the used crystals along with the top layer of skin. Microdermabrasion is used to treat aging wrinkles, scars, stretch marks and a variety of other skin conditions.

Another viable anti-aging treatment is the usage of certain creams and lotions with all-natural ingredients like aloe vera, vitamin K, vitamin E and essential oils. Applying a high-quality anti-aging cream to your face and body once a day will gradually reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
