How to Treat Eczema Naturally

By Rachel M.

There are several studies which show that eczema, a broadly used term to describe skin conditions which show inflammation, redness, or even dryness of the skin, can be caused by genetics or environmental triggers. There are also studies which show that eczema is caused by a combination of both.

A dermatologist will be able to assess the severity of your condition. Eczema can affect anyone at any age, although it is more common with infants and children. Doctors can recommend certain medications and an eczema cream to alleviate the symptoms, but there are people who prefer to look for ways on how to treat eczema naturally. Here are a few ideas to help you get started.

        Evaluate and Change Your Diet

Eczema can be triggered by certain food you’re allergic to, so it’s best that you evaluate your current diet and begin taking out those which cause your skin to break out. You can choose fish and organic fruits and vegetables plus nuts. Choose those which are rich with fatty omega acids to keep your skin healthy. This is the first way to treat eczema naturally.

        Have Frequent Warm Showers

Warm showers help retain your skin’s moisture, which is very important if you have eczema. After having your warm shower, this is the best time to apply a moisturizer or eczema cream because the skin can absorb everything.

Keep Your Hands Clean at All Times

Make sure to wash your hands frequently and apply a light cream afterwards, thereby keeping your hands clean as much as possible. This will help prevent any bacteria from being transferred when you touch your eczema. This is not only a way to treat eczema naturally, but it is also a simple and straightforward way to make sure your skin condition does not worsen.

Add Lavender Oil to Your Bath

Lavender oil has anti–bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and calming properties. This is one of the ways you can treat eczema naturally – just add a few drops in your warm bath and soak for a few minutes. The lavender oil will help relieve the itching and reduce swelling.

       Use Dead Sea Salt

Another way to treat eczema is to use dead sea salt either as a scrub on the affected area, as a whole body scrub, or by mixing a few parts into your bath. Dead sea salt is rich with minerals that help soothe your skin, promote new skin growth, and keep your skin moisturized.

There are other ways how to treat eczema naturally; you can search online and you’ll find plenty of different home remedies to choose from. Just be sure to consult with your doctor regarding the ingredients these different home remedies have, and make sure none of the ingredients included in the treatments are causing your eczema in the first place. Additionally, your doctor will be able to advise you of whether it is OK to use these treatments depending on the severity of your eczema.
