All-Natural Methods For Improving The Look of Wrinkled Skin

As we grow older, our skin loses some of its moisture and elasticity that keep it so youthful and healthy-looking. When this occurs, wrinkles and creases in the skin may develop in areas that were once silky-smooth. Wrinkled skin is something that nearly everyone will experience in his her lifetime, as it's just part of the natural aging process. However, there are certain things we can do to help improve the look of our skin possibly even tighten out some of the wrinkles.

It's estimated that around 65-75% of the human body consists of water; therefore, it's safe to say that there's a large quantity of water located in our skin. If you fail to drink enough water throughout the day, your body and skin will become dehydrated and slowly dry out. You may not realize it, but chances are you could be going through your days dehydrated. The exact amount of water necessary for proper growth and bodily functions depends on a variety of things, but a good rule of thumb to follow is to drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water each day.

In addition to not drinking enough water, the sun can also cause dehydration of the body and skin. Most professional dermatologists will agree that sun exposure is the single worst element for the skin. Prolonged sun exposure can lead to wrinkles, sunburn, blisters, and it increases your risk for developing several different types of skin cancers. If you aren't doing so already, try to get into the habit of lathering on a SPF sunscreen lotion or oil before going outside. Even if it's just going out in the yard for a quick 30-minute gardening session, you'll still want to protect your skin with a proper SPF sunscreen product.

Studies have shown that lotions and creams containing certain ingredients can also work to improve the look of wrinkled skin. Vitamin B, E and C are just a few of the many ingredients that tend to have a positive effect on wrinkled skin. If you're looking to take a more hands-on approach to your wrinkled skin, keep your eyes peeled for products containing these critical vitamins. You should only need to apply the product to your skin once daily, but always read the directions beforehand just in case.

Antioxidants play a key role in overall health, and possibly even aging, of our skin. You see, there countless different types of pollutants and toxins (free radicals) surrounding us. Although you can't see them, these free radicals are in the air we breathe, the food we eat and the food we eat. Our bodies are built to deal with them in small amounts, but large quantities of free radicals may lead to early aging and make us susceptible to certain diseases and illness. Thankfully, antioxidants work to neutralize free radicals by stopping their destructive behavior. You can either consume antioxidants directly through organic foods and vitamins, or you can use topical creams containing them. Either way, it's important to keep your body and skin supplied with free radical-fighting antioxidants.
