Surgical and Non-Surgical Spider Veins Treatment Available

By Silvia Weber

People who have spider veins can choose between surgical and non surgical treatments to remove them. For people who want immediate results and can afford the costs often choose surgical treatments. There are people however, who prefer to try a more natural and non-invasive approach to treating spider veins. These natural treatments take some time to notice visible results. Natural spider veins treatment is also less expensive and is an option for those who cannot afford or do not want to pay for surgical treatments.

What Are Spider Veins?

Spider veins are veins which have become tangled and enlarged. The legs are the most common body part where spider veins occur, although it can appear in the arms, neck, and face as well. Spider veins actually look like a spiderís web, because of all the tangled veins. Because these veins are quite unsightly, women who have these often hide the affected body parts in long pants or sleeves.

Wearing Compression Stockings

Compression stockings can be bought at a local drugstore without a prescription, and is one of the non-surgical ways in removing them. Compression stockings work by preventing blood from flowing in the wrong direction; it improves the appearance of current spider veins and prevents any new ones as well.

What is Sclerotherapy?

With sclerotherapy, a fine needle is used to inject a solution into the vein, and the blood clots causing the vein to close off and become scar tissue. Sclerotherapy is recommended for people who have used compression stockings but did not get any results, as well as for people with spider veins and varicose veins that measure less than 6mm in length.

Laser Treatments

Laser treatments can be used to treat spider veins. In this procedure, the lasers emit an intense energy that destroys the small blood vessels located right underneath the skin. This procedure is completely non invasive, and may take several sessions to complete. However, one of the notable side effects of laser veins treatment is that the skin in the treated area may become temporarily or permanently discolored.

Spider Vein Cream

Applying spider vein cream is another way to remove spider veins non-surgically. Creams with Vitamin K are not only good for spider veins treatment; it can also be used to remove dark circles under the eyes. Do keep in mind that even though there are plenty of Vitamin K cream benefits, you need to continuously apply the cream to see results. It is not an overnight magical cream that will remove your spider veins when you wake up in the morning.

Exercise

Standing or sitting for a very long time can cause spider veins. To avoid it, make sure you get enough exercise which will improve your blood circulation. Getting enough rest, exercise, and the right diet will not only prevent and improve the appearance of spider veins; it will also cause you to become healthier and physically fit.

Ask your doctor to find out what spider veins treatment is best for you. You should also make sure to ask your doctor about any side effects regarding surgical procedures in removing spider veins, like scars and bruising. Knowing all of your options will help you make the best choice in which spider veins treatment to undergo.
